In the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, West Indies defeated Uganda by a huge margin of 134 runs to secure their place in the Super 8. This is the second biggest win in the history of T20 World Cup.

5) Afghanistan vs Uganda (by 125 runs in ICC World Cup 2024)

The fifth match of ICC T20 World Cup 2024 was played between Afghanistan and Uganda. Uganda won the toss and decided to bowl first.

However, this decision of Uganda proved to be wrong. Afghanistan’s openers Gurbaz and Zadran together made a brilliant partnership of 154 runs for the first wicket. In which Gurbaz contributed 76 runs and Zadran contributed 70 runs. Afghanistan scored a huge score of 183 runs in 20 overs by losing five wickets.

Masaba and Cosmos took two wickets each for Uganda. In reply, Uganda’s team, chasing a target of 184 runs, collapsed for just 58 runs in 16 overs and lost the match by 125 runs. Only Ali Shah and Robinson could reach double figures from Uganda’s side.

Afghanistan bowler Fazal Haq Farooqi took 5 wickets for just 9 runs in four brilliant overs. Naveen Ul Haq and Rashid Khan also got two wickets each.

Man of the Match award was given to Fasla Haq Farooqui.

4) South Africa vs Scotland (by 130 runs in ICC T20 World Cup 2009)

The fifth match of the 2009 T20 World Cup was played at the Oval Ground between South Africa and Scotland. Batting first, South Africa scored 211 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs with the help of Kallis’s 48 runs in 31 balls and AB de Villiers’ 79* runs in 34 balls.

De Villiers hit five fours and six sixes in his innings. Gordon and Majid Haq took two wickets each for Scotland.

Chasing 212 runs, Scotland were all out for 81 runs in 15.4 overs and lost the match by a huge margin of 130 runs. For Scotland, Kortjer scored the highest 42 runs in 32 balls.

In this match, the Man of the Match award was given to South African batsman AB de Villiers.

The 17th match of the 2021 T20 World Cup played in the UAE was played between Afghanistan and Scotland.

For Afghanistan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman took 5 wickets and Rashid Khan took 4 wickets.

Due to the excellent bowling of Mujeeb Ur Rahman, he was awarded the Man of the Match award.

2) West Indies vs Uganda (by 134 runs in ICC T20 World Cup 2024)

West Indies set a new record by defeating Uganda by 134 runs in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. This is the second biggest win in the history of T20 World Cup.

In this match, West Indies won the toss and decided to bat first, however, their decision was not right and they lost their first wicket cheaply in the form of Brandon King. With the help of Russell’s 30 runs and Johnson Charles’ 44, West Indies managed to score 173 runs in 20 overs by losing five wickets.

Masaba took the maximum of two wickets from Uganda’s side. Chasing the target of 174 runs, Uganda’s team was all out after scoring just 39 runs in 12 overs and lost the match by 134 runs. From West Indies’ side, Akeel Hussain took 5 wickets by giving just 11 runs in four overs.

Hussain was awarded the Man of the Match award for his brilliant bowling.

1) Sri Lanka vs Kenya (by 172 runs in ICC T20 World Cup 2007)

Sri Lanka defeated Kenya by 172 runs in the 2007 T20 World Cup to register the biggest win in T20 World Cup history.

In this match, Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat first, this decision proved to be very beneficial for Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka batted first and scored a mammoth score of 260 runs in 20 overs by losing 6 wickets. For Sri Lanka, Sanath Jayasuriya scored 88 runs in 44 balls, Jayawardene scored 65 runs in 27 balls and Mubarak scored 40 runs in 13 balls.

Chasing a mammoth target of 262, Kenya’s team collapsed for 88 runs in 19.2 overs and lost the match by 172 runs. This is the biggest defeat in the history of T20 World Cup so far.

Man of the Match award in this match was given to Sanath Jayasuriya.
